Subject: Santee Lodge, OA - Lodge Updates

Brothers,

This email contains information about recent Lodge updates and information about future activities.

OA WORK WEEKEND
Our next lodge event is OA Work Weekend which will be held June 2-4, 2017. Please join us for fellowship, fun, good food and cheerful service. A variety of service projects will be going on during this event to help prepare Camp Coker for summer camp. We will also be conducting Ordeals and Brotherhood conversions for those eligible. If you are eligible for your Ordeal or Brotherhood conversion, then I would highly encourage you to take part in your Ordeal or Brotherhood conversion at OA Work Weekend. If you haven't registered for OA Work Weekend then you can register at the following web address:
I hope to see many of you there!

VIGIL NOMINATIONS
The time has come to nominate you believe are worthy of the Vigil Honor. Nominations for the Vigil Honor are due to me on June 1, 2017. Attached to this email I have included the 2017 Vigil Nomination Form PDF. Remember that those nominated for the Vigil Honor must have been Brotherhood members for 2 years, exhibit a strong devotion to the ideals of our Brotherhood, and a desire to live a life in cheerful service to others. I would strongly encourage all of you to nominate those youth and adults you believe are worthy of this honor.

CHANGES TO LODGE BYLAWS
At the business meeting on June 3, 2017 we will be voting on some changes to our Lodge's bylaws. The major changes to the bylaws include: the re-introduction of a 3 flap system to Santee Lodge 116, the implementation of an Alcohol and Drugs policy, and changing our Lodge Year from July-June to January-December. Some minor changes include: correcting grammatical errors, some additions to the requirements of the Patches and Memorabilia Committee, and some additions to requirements of Elangomat flaps. I have attached a copy of the proposed bylaw changes to this email. Please take time to review these changes before the business meeting on June 3, 2017.

AMERICAN INDIAN WORKSHOP
There will be an American Indian Workshop including regalia, dance, and drum workshops at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Florence, SC on May 13, 2017 from 1:00-4:00 PM. These workshops are free of charge, no prior skill or experience is needed, and attend ready learn something new! Please contact Alex Nesbitt at 803-840-0630 or Tara Holberg at 843-206-2983 (after 5:00 PM) for more information.

OA WEEK 2017
OA Week will be from July 30 - August 5, 2017 at Camp Coker. OA Week is a unique event to our Lodge as we are the only Lodge in America that devotes an entire week to our Brotherhood. OA Week is filled with Ordeals, Brotherhood conversions, fellowship, good food, competitions, and fun. I would highly encourage all of you to attend. As always, the culmination of OA Week will be our annual OA Pageant which will conclude OA Week and begin Summer Fellowship. I hope to see many of you there.

SUMMER FELLOWSHIP 2017
Our 2017 Summer Fellowship will be from August 4-6, 2017. Summer Fellowship will begin after the OA Pageant ends at the conclusion of OA Week. This will be a weekend full of Ordeals, Brotherhood conversions, fellowship, good food, and fun. We will also be electing our Lodge Officers for the 2017 - 2018 Lodge Year at Summer Fellowship. Closer to the time, I will be sending out a form for those interested in running for Lodge office to fill out and turn in to myself or our Lodge Advisor Phil Bethune. If any of you are interested in running for Lodge office, then I would encourage you to reach out to the person currently in the office you are interested in to learn more about the position. I hope to see many of you there.

DIXIE REFLECTION
Congratulations Santee of bringing home the Golden Arrow for the 2nd straight year! This is a fantastic accomplishment for our Lodge and we should all be extremely proud. Unfortunately, I was not able to end due to finals at college so I would like to thank a few people for their work with this year's Dixie Fellowship. First, I would like to thank our Administrative Vice Chief Blake Parker for stepping up at Dixie in my absence. He did an exceptional job and represented our Lodge to the best of his abilities. Second, I would like to thank our Dixie Chairman Nathan Kohler for volunteering a countless amount of hours to the planning, preparation, and execution of our contingent's activities at the 2017 Dixie Fellowship. He deserves a huge round of applause. Third, I would like to thank our Dixie Advisor Mark Hall and our Lodge Advisor Phil Bethune for assisting our youth leaders as they organized this event. Fourth, I would like to thank all of those in our Lodge who competed and placed in events at Dixie. Fifth, I would like to thank all of you as members of our Lodge. Our members are the lifeblood of our Lodge and without all of you our success would not have been possible. The 2017 Dixie Fellowship was a massive success for Santee Lodge 116. Job well done!
