Mr. Dean

My name is Scott Slater and I’m a member of the Carolina Borders detachment of the United States Marine Corps League. If you’re not familiar, we are an organization of retired and former Marines that among other things “effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy”. One of the ways we do this is to honor those youth of our community that have achieved remarkable success, and that’s why I’m contacting you.

Like many such organizations, we have a program where we present an Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award to young men that have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Our detachment, which has members like me that reside in South Carolina, is located just across the border from North Myrtle Beach in Calabash, NC. We are interested in working with South Carolina troops in our area to ensure that those Scouts who achieve Eagle are appropriately recognized. In order to do this, I would like to ask that you pass the word to troops that meet near North Myrtle Beach (within 10-15 miles or so) that our detachment would like to participate in Eagle Courts of Honor by presenting our certificate to the new Eagle. Scoutmasters or Committee Chairs can contact me via e-mail or by phone (below), and I’ll do my best to be at the COH.

Thanks for your time, and if you have any questions please give me a call/send an e-mail,

Scott Slater
