SATURDAY, MAY 01, 2010 Chicora get's it's share of awards At the Council Banquet tonight, Chicora District people received a number of awards. Roger Brock (of Troop 856) received a veteran award for his 50 years of service to the Boy Scouts of America. Two others received awards for longer periods. One was for 75 years. That is amazing in that the council is just over 75 years old. Rick Curran and one other Scouter received the Distinguished Commissioner Award. The award requires at least five years as a Commissioner as well as other commissioner requirements. Six people (two from Chicora) were awarded the Silver Beaver for exceptible service to youth within the area of the council. This is the highest award a council can award a volunteer. The six people were, Dr. Carl Chelin, Harry Easterling Jr., Craig Nies, Timothy Norwood, David Evans and Mike Mentel. This is a nice selection of deserving people. |
